Paint Your Own Birdhouse at Sadie Ford Farm
This is the kind of craft that does not end up in the recycling bin two days later. At the Nature Center inside Cedars of Lebanon State Park, park staff hand out real wooden birdhouses, and everyone paints one to take home and hang in the yard.
The houses are sized for the small cavity nesters that actually live around here — wrens, chickadees and nuthatches — so there is a decent chance something moves in by spring. Staff will talk through where to hang it and how high, which is the part most people get wrong.
Bringing kids? Wear clothes you do not care about. Younger painters will want help holding the house steady while they work, so plan on being hands-on rather than hanging back with a coffee.

Cost: $5 per participant.
