Bird Search on the Sadie Ford Farm Trail at Cedars of Lebanon

Bird Search on the Sadie Ford Farm Trail at Cedars of Lebanon

Start the long weekend outside. A ranger-led bird walk sets off from the gravel parking lot at Sadie Ford Heritage Farm, tucked inside Cedars of Lebanon State Park, and follows the farm trails at an easy, look-around pace.

This one rewards patience more than speed. You will hear far more birds than you see, and the ranger is good about stopping to point out who is calling and where to look. Along the way you get the story of the farm itself — the restoration work underway and what is being added this year.

Bringing kids? The trails are gentle and the group moves slowly, so this works well for elementary-age children who can walk about a mile and a half without a stroller. Binoculars help but are not required; young kids do fine sharing a pair with a grown-up. Bug spray in September is not optional.

When: Friday, September 4, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Sadie Ford Heritage Farm, Cedars of Lebanon State Park, 328 Cedar Forest Road, Lebanon
Cost: Free. Registration is requested, and the park offers an optional donation when you sign up.

Schedules at the park can shift with weather, so it is worth confirming before you drive out.
