Wilson County Just Got Its 2027 Race Dates. The Green Flag Drops at Six on a Sunday Evening.
A short drive east of Mt. Juliet, on the other side of the county in Lebanon, sits a 1.33-mile concrete oval that spends most of the year quiet and a few days a year very much not. Wilson County now knows which days those will be in 2027.
Nashville Superspeedway has its dates: a three-day NASCAR weekend running Friday, June 4 through Sunday, June 6, 2027, confirmed as part of the sport's national schedule release in late August.
Three days, three series
The weekend builds rather than front-loads. Friday, June 4 opens with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series — long a favorite of fans who like their racing a little rougher around the edges. Saturday, June 5 brings the Sports Illustrated Resorts 250 in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
Sunday, June 6 is the headliner: the Cracker Barrel 400, a NASCAR Cup Series points race, with a 6 p.m. start. An evening green flag is a meaningful detail in Middle Tennessee in June — it moves the bulk of the race out of the worst of the afternoon heat and into the part of the day when the light goes gold over the backstretch.
The track is already taking 2027 seat renewals, at a $50 deposit per seat to hold a spot, with the seat selection handled afterward.
Why this track exists at all
The Superspeedway is a genuinely unusual piece of American motorsport, and the reason is underfoot: it is one of very few concrete ovals in the country. Concrete behaves differently from asphalt — it holds up under heat, it ages differently, and it rewards a different setup — which is part of why drivers talk about this place in specific terms rather than generic ones.
Its recent history has been anything but steady. The track went years without a Cup Series date. Then Speedway Motorsports acquired it in 2021 as part of its purchase of Dover Motorsports, and Cup racing came back to Wilson County. Matt Greci has run the place as senior vice president and general manager since December 2022, arriving from nearly sixteen years at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he had started as a sales intern.
That arc — bought, revived, and now locked into a June weekend on the national calendar — is why a schedule announcement lands differently here than it would somewhere with a longer guarantee.
What it means for Mt. Juliet
Race weekends are a county-wide event whether or not you buy a ticket. Traffic patterns shift, hotel rooms fill well beyond Lebanon, restaurants along the corridor plan around it, and a good part of the county ends up planning its Sunday around a 6 p.m. green flag.
June also puts the weekend at a friendlier point in the calendar than a mid-summer date would — school is out, but the deepest Tennessee heat has usually not settled in yet.
