Lieutenant Brockman and Lieutenant Ronan Graduate from Intensive, Nationally Recognized Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s School of Police Staff and Command

The Mt. Juliet Police Department is proud to announce that Lieutenant Jason Brockman and Lieutenant Sean Ronan have successfully graduated from Northwestern University’s prestigious School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC). The 10-week leadership program, hosted at Belmont University, is designed to prepare law enforcement leaders for the highest levels of command responsibility.

Since its inception in 1983, the SPSC has graduated more than 22,000 law enforcement professionals from across the nation and around the world. Lt. Brockman and Lt. Ronan were members of Class #613, which brought together 23 law enforcement leaders for an intensive training experience. Lt. Ronan was also elected by his peers to serve as class vice president—a reflection of his leadership and the respect of his fellow students.

The SPSC curriculum covers 27 core instructional areas, including leadership, human resources, organizational behavior, budgeting, policy development, and strategic planning. Students are academically challenged through written examinations, projects, presentations, and a comprehensive staff study paper.

The Center for Public Safety, which administers the program, was founded at Northwestern University in 1936 to provide advanced, university-based education for law enforcement. Over the decades, it has expanded its offerings to include a wide range of training in police management and executive development.

Lt. Brockman, who serves as Commander of the Administrative Services Division, and Lt. Ronan, who serves as the department’s overnight patrol commander, are the 5th and 6th members of the Mt. Juliet Police Department to complete this rigorous program. Their achievement reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to professional development and exceptional service to the Mt. Juliet community.
