Family Fun Around Mt. Juliet: Trains, an Orchard and Glow Golf

Mt. Juliet is a family town at heart, and Wilson County makes it easy to fill a Saturday with kids of any age. The best outings here mix big playgrounds and open lawns with a few indoor favorites for rainy days, plus enough local history to spark questions on the ride home.

Every stop below is in Mt. Juliet or nearby Lebanon. Some are run-around-and-wear-them-out places, and others are perfect for a birthday party or a family night out, so mix and match by age, weather and energy level.

Charlie Daniels Park

Mt. Juliet · 1075 Charlie Daniels Pkwy., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122

The city's flagship park won Family Fun/Entertainment Center in the 2026 Mt. Juliet Main Street Awards, and one visit explains why. Planet Playground is a 9,000-square-foot fenced play area, Squirrel's Run gives toddlers their own corner with a tricycle track, and Ava's Splash Pad cools everyone off in summer. Older kids head for the skate park, the gaga ball pit and the sand volleyball courts.

Tip: Pack towels and a change of clothes in warm months, and check the park calendar for movie nights and holiday events on the lawn.

Hibbett Hall Train & History Museum

Mt. Juliet · 1075 Charlie Daniels Pkwy. (Mt. Juliet Community Center), Mt. Juliet, TN 37122

Inside the community center at Charlie Daniels Park, this small museum is built around the model train collection of N.C. Hibbett, Mt. Juliet's first mayor. The layout recreates the town from the 1910s through the 1940s, with locomotives and cars restored with help from a local train enthusiast, and nearby exhibits tell the story of the city's 1972 incorporation. Train-loving kids will not want to leave.

Tip: It keeps a limited schedule and also opens by appointment, so check the city calendar first and bring questions for the resident train expert.

Breeden's Orchard

Mt. Juliet · 631 Beckwith Rd., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122

This family-run orchard has welcomed Mt. Juliet visitors since 1974, and today it pairs peach trees with a bakery known for apple cider donuts, a small cidery and an Activity Yard with games and a petting zoo. Fall brings seasonal festivals and pumpkins, summer brings pick-your-own peaches, and story times give the littlest visitors a reason to come back. It was a family fun finalist in the 2026 Main Street Awards.

Tip: Summer peach picking is by reservation, so sign up early, and save room for a warm cider donut before you leave.

It's designed for every age, from little kids to teens and parents.

Eagle Park

Mt. Juliet (near the train station) · 4th Ave. and W. Division St., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122

This small bicycle park west of Mt. Juliet's train station began as an Eagle Scout project, built to give young riders a safe place to learn the rules of the road away from traffic. The pint-size course suits preschoolers and early elementary kids on balance bikes, training wheels or brand-new two-wheelers.

Tip: Bring helmets and a balance bike, then make a short drive to the general store museum at the city's welcome center.

Hillside Hangout

Mt. Juliet · 12192 Lebanon Rd., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122

When the grown-ups want dinner and the kids want to run, this Lebanon Road spot delivers both. A big fenced backyard has picnic tables, play equipment and room to roam, the kitchen turns out smash burgers and soft pretzels with pub cheese, and local musicians play regularly. Residents named it the city's best bar in the 2026 Main Street Awards, and that roomy backyard has made it a favorite with families.

Tip: Claim a backyard table early in the evening, order burgers and pretzels, and check the music lineup before you go.

Fiddlers Grove Historic Village

Lebanon · 945 E. Baddour Pkwy., Lebanon, TN 37087

On the grounds of the James E. Ward Agricultural Center, this re-created village gathers more than 60 historic structures and small museums, some built with materials from old buildings in rural Wilson County communities. Kids can peek into a schoolhouse and a 1940s general store, and craft clubs such as the blacksmiths and woodcarvers keep old skills alive on site.

Tip: It keeps a seasonal schedule from spring through fall; time a visit to Pioneer Days or Ghosts in the Grove for the liveliest version of the village.

ProBowl West

Lebanon · 501 W. Baddour Pkwy., Lebanon, TN 37087

This Lebanon bowling center leans happily retro, with leagues and youth programs on the calendar and cosmic bowling when the lights go down. Glowing lanes and music make it a favorite for birthday parties, and private lanes are available for groups, from school and church outings to the whole extended family.

Tip: Plan a family night around cosmic bowling, and book a private-lane party when a birthday comes up.

Plan it

Charlie Daniels Park, Hibbett Hall, Good Clean Fun!, Eagle Park and Hillside Hangout are all a few minutes apart in Mt. Juliet; Breeden's Orchard is on the east side of town off Beckwith Road, and Fiddlers Grove and ProBowl West are a short drive east in Lebanon. On a rainy day, pair the arcade with bowling; on a sunny one, start at the park and end at the orchard.

Several stops are seasonal or keep limited schedules, including the splash pad, the train museum, peach picking and Fiddlers Grove, so check current hours before you go. For trails, beaches and a state park nature center, see our guide to the outdoors near Mt. Juliet.
