10+ Family Things to Do Around Mt. Juliet This Week
This is the week Wilson County starts to feel like fall. The orchard is running most days, there is a free movie in the park, and the yard sale that half of Mt. Juliet plans its Saturday around is back. Here is what is on around town Thursday through Wednesday, plus a few free places that are at their best this time of year.
On the calendar this week
1. Pizza Night at Breeden’s Orchard — Thursday, Sept. 10
Pizza from 4:30 p.m. out at the orchard, which is about as low-effort as a family dinner gets in September. Pay as you go, eat outside, let the kids roam the grounds afterward. Details.
2. Story Time at Breeden’s Orchard — Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.
A morning story time in a working orchard is a much easier sell to a three-year-old than a morning story time anywhere else. Two chances this week. Friday · Saturday.
3. Movie in the Park: “Little Giants” — Friday, Sept. 11 (free)
Charlie Daniels Park, after dark, no charge. Bring low chairs or a quilt so the people behind you can see, and remember the mosquito spray — it is still September in Tennessee. Movie night details.
4. Fall Community Yard Sale — Saturday, Sept. 12 (free to browse)
Starts at 8 a.m., and the serious shoppers are there before that. Good hunting for kids’ clothes and outgrown bikes, and a genuinely fun morning if you hand each kid a few dollars and let them negotiate. Details.
5. Movie Night at Breeden’s Orchard — Saturday, Sept. 12
A second outdoor movie option, this one out at the orchard at 7 p.m. Check with the orchard for the title and seating before you load the car. Details.
6. Mt. Juliet Market Night — Tuesday, Sept. 15 (free)
Vendors, food and music from 5:30 p.m. It is a walkable, stroller-friendly evening and an easy way to kill the stretch between school pickup and bedtime without turning on the oven. Details.

7. Long Hunter State Park — Couchville Lake loop
A flat, paved two-mile loop right around the lake, which makes it one of the few genuinely stroller-friendly hikes in the county. September mornings are the good ones: cooler air, herons on the water, and far fewer people than you get in spring.
8. Fiddlers Grove Historic Village
A whole village of restored Wilson County buildings out at the fairgrounds — schoolhouse, church, general store, the lot. Kids who have zero interest in a museum will happily walk through actual buildings they can look inside. Check the grounds hours before you drive out.
9. Percy Priest Dam overlook and the Stones River greenway
Big water, big concrete, and boats going through — an easy win with a kid who likes machinery. Pair the overlook with a stretch of the greenway and you have a solid free morning.
10. Don Fox Community Park
Playground, walking paths and enough open grass to wear out whoever needs wearing out. It is the reliable default when a plan falls through and you need somewhere to be in ten minutes.
