Public Lands Day Shoreline Clean-Up at Long Hunter State Park

September 19
Free

Percy Priest Lake pushes a steady supply of debris onto Long Hunter's shoreline, and National Public Lands Day is when the park does something about it. Volunteers meet at the Shoreline Picnic Area parking lot and work the woods and water's edge together.

This is a good one for families with kids old enough to carry a bag and stay on a trail — the work is simple, the payoff is visible by lunchtime, and it is the rare outing where children can point at a stretch of lakeshore and say they fixed it.

When: Saturday, September 19, 2026
Where: Long Hunter State Park, Shoreline Picnic Area parking lot, 2910 Hobson Pike, Hermitage
Cost: Free

Bring plenty of water and dress for the weather. You will be on trail in the woods, so bug spray and sunscreen are worth packing. Check the park's event listing for the meeting time before you head out.
